Wrigley Media Group has named Ross Breitenbach, EP and creator of Netflix’ Hack My Home, to the new position of head of unscripted and brand development.
Breitenbach, who just won a Daytime Emmy for the show, will expand the Lexington, Kentucky-based company’s unscripted development pipeline, which currently includes several projects slated for summer release. He comes with two projects underway, including a development deal with a major cable network for a true crime series, and a seven-figure brand-funded series.
He’ll be based in Los Angeles and is tasked with expanding and overseeing a new development team there looking at content across genres and formats.
“Ross Breitenbach is a dynamic and passionate storyteller with the rare ability to create and execute on a high level,” said Wrigley Media CEO Joe Livecchi. “Brands and networks alike trust him due to his successful track record as a proven hitmaker who has consistently conceived, produced and sold broad commercial concepts to every major player in the industry.”
“I’m thrilled to be working with such a legendary and respected brand like Wrigley,” Breitenbach said. “I see incredible opportunities to break new ground and solve problems in the unscripted space, creating the content we love while ensuring its financial success.” He’s referring in large part to Kentucky’s refundable tax credits — up to 35% for film and TV production — which were reworked and improved in 2022 and “will allow our partners and us to deliver more for less.”
He joins as , Wrigley Media Group's sister company, opened its doors this week, becoming the largest production facility in Kentucky. The 50,000 square foot complex is equipped to be a national hub for creative innovation and media entertainment, and an access point to the tax credit. Producer Tim Sabo (The Biggest Loser) has been brought on to manage the studio.
Breitenbach is a DGA Award-nominated director of Brat Camp (ABC) and has been a showrunner on more than twenty series. He’s created and sold fifteen of them and produced for most of the major networks during his twenty-five years in the unscripted and documentary business, including work for PBS, USA Networks, ABC, Discovery and Animal Planet.
Directing credits include The Bachelor (ABC), Big Brother (CBS), Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC) and The Simple Life (FOX). He has been an acclaimed showrunner with many successful major series, including Yo Momma (MTV) and Dr Miami (WETV).
Breitenbach has also operated two creative and production service companies, BC+M and Plot Twist Entertainment, which produce content for networks and brands, respectively.
